Carlo Pagulayan is a freelance artist that got his first professional gig drawing Elektra for Marvel Comics, which paved way for him to work on Emma Frost, Fantastic Four and most notably Planet Hulk with writer Greg Pak. The story arc served as inspiration for the 2017 hit movie, Thor: Ragnarök, which also debuted the first MCU appearance of Korg and Miek, two characters Carlo co-created with Greg. He was also responsible for designing the look of Skaar, son of Hulk.
His art is mostly credited for pencils, but since entering comics he has learned to color, digital paint and also digital sculpting which has seen print in some of Marvel’s book covers. In 2011 his bust sculpture of Planet Hulk was produced by Bowen designsIn 2015, Carlo came on board DC Comics for their Convergence event book, and from there has been assigned to draw several DC Titles including Batman and Robin: Eternal and most notably, the 2017 Eisner Nominated series, Deathstroke: Rebirth, followed by Wonder Woman Rebirth, Deathstroke vs Batman, and cover work for Star Wars, Vampirella and others.
Pairing again with his Deathstroke writer Christopher Priest, they are currently telling the Elseworld story of Superman: LostBorn and raised in the Philippines, Carlo is largely self-taught constantly looks to improving his craft, he graduated as an industrial engineer but has always remained enamored with comics and the visual arts.
