World Cosplay Summit

Costumes and Props

  1. Both team members have to appear as characters from the same Japanese manga, anime, tokusatsu, or video game for the World Cosplay Championship.
  2. Both team members must cosplay characters from the same manga, anime, tokusatsu or video game.
  3. All items used in the performance should be handmade. Using store bought items is not allowed.
  4. Take adequate safety precautions with stage weapons and props. If the WCS Secretariat deems that a prop used in the performance is dangerous (for example, it could slip from the user’s hands and cause injury to audience members) the WCS Secretariat may prohibit the use of said prop.
  5. All costumes, props and equipment must be less than 40 kilograms.
  6. Body coverage must be decent in respect of cultural sensitivity
  7. Body paints are allowed on arms and leg
  8. Props should be as per the below:
  • Props and Weapons easily distinguishable from any real weapon other than firearms may be allowed upon thorough inspection. (the less realistic the better)
  • All props (except those that resemble firearms) made from Plastic, Thermo Plastic, Urethane Resin, Cardboard, Foam, Foam Rubber, or other lightweight material
  • Plastic, Fiberglass or Resin shields with no sharp edges
  • Bows that are not strung and incapable of shooting arrows
  • Arrows in a quiver that are not removable or have the tips removed
  • Staffs and brooms made of Plastic, Resin, cardboard, foam, orfoam rubber that are not unwieldy to the carrier
  • Wands

On Stage

  1. The performance will be 2 minutes and 30 seconds.
  2. Only both members of the team must be on stage.
  3. The stage assistants are in no way involved with any of the performances, using them is prohibited.
  4. You're allowed 3 stage props to be placed on stage, and they will be placed by the Stage assistant during the 40 second interval between different performances.
  5. Each item that must be pre-set (setup) on stage before the start of the performance must adhere to the following restrictions: Height: 2100 mm, Width 2100mm , Depth 900 mm, and Weight 10 Kg.
  6. Staining, marking, or damaging the stage, or the props or costumes of other competitors, is prohibited.
  7. Performing off stage is prohibited.
  8. The use of fire, water, lasers, strobe devices, and smoke related special effects is prohibited.

Music

  1. Prepare your own music and/or sound clip for your performance.
  2. Audio must be recorded in a common format such as mp3, wav, or wma.
  3. A performance sheet stating what you will perform is to be submitted in advance.
  4. The use of original voice actors’ voices from the source material in your sound clip is prohibited.
  5. Audio must be submitted by March 28 2019.

Judging Criteria

1. On Stage:

  • Performance (100 Points)
  • Respecting Source Material (50 Points)

2. Character Craftsmanship:

  • Construction (100 Points)
  • Costume Stage expression (50 Points)
