OSCARS 2019

The 2019 Oscars were hosted on Sunday, February 24 (the early hours of Monday, February 25 for UAE time), and there were some celebrations, some upsets and a whole lot happening.

Some notable wins were Marvel’s Black Panther taking three awards – for best costume design, best set design and best original score. It also resulted in history being made, with Ruth Carter (costume design) and Hannah Beachler (production design) being the first black winners in their categories.

Best-animated motion feature went to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Marvel’s animated film.

Actor, Rami Malek took the Oscar for best actor, becoming the first Arab to win the coveted award, for his role as Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody. The biopic also took out best film editing, best sound editing and best sound mixing.
